Conspumentary RPG

Motivation

When the Soviet Union collapsed, millions of people found themselves in a new reality. There was not much bread but there were a lot of circuses. All around the ex-USSR countries there were dozens of TV shows I call Conspumentary (Conspiracy + Documentary).

When I was a child I watched TV shows about aliens controlling the world, pyramids built by lizardmen from planet Nibiru, Kyshtym Dwarf e.t.c. That was absolutely cringe, however gravitating both for a child and people who used to trust the TV.

In a strange homage to those shows I created a tiny comedy game “Conspumentary RPG”. In this game you play as a TV show film crew seeking for a new sensation. The game is simple and fun to play, and I believe that making fun of such small evil is one of the good ways to fight it.

Mechanics

The game is built on significantly simplified Year Zero Engine. Player has four skills to check, injuries points indicating health and psychoses points indicating sanity. 

There are four classes representing the typical roles in a conspiracy show filming crew: Reporter, Cameraman, Meta Expert and a Bodyguard who protects the crew on the mission. Each class has a perk giving a bonus to one of four skills, and two unique abilities.
